A comprehensive analysis of 480 HVAC contractor websites across Colorado, examining SEO fundamentals, mobile readiness, and online presence.
“Fort Collins HVAC companies are nearly twice as likely to be found on Google as their Pueblo counterparts.”
Fort Collins leads Colorado with 95.5% schema markup adoption and 916 average Google reviews. Colorado Springs follows at 81.5% schema with 843 average reviews. Then the numbers fall off a cliff: Pueblo sits at just 46.4% schema with 354 reviews, and Greeley at 57.7% with 225 reviews.
The I-25 corridor's tech economy lifts all boats — even HVAC companies benefit from proximity to tech workers and digital agencies. The further you get from the Front Range, the worse the web fundamentals.
Only 4.2% of Colorado HVAC contractor websites have Open Graph tags. When a homeowner shares your company on Nextdoor or Facebook after a great furnace install, their friends see a bare URL — no company logo, no business name, no call-to-action.
In an industry built on referrals and word-of-mouth, this is leaving money on the table with every share. A single missing meta tag turns a glowing recommendation into an anonymous link.
14% of Colorado HVAC websites lack SSL certificates. When someone's furnace breaks at 11 PM and they Google "emergency HVAC," they see "Not Secure" in their browser. They hit the back button.
The next company — the one with the padlock icon — gets the call. In emergency services, trust signals aren't optional. They're the difference between a $5,000 job and a bounce.
Denver HVAC contractors average 850 Google reviews. Fort Collins: 916. Thornton: 982. These companies are playing a different game than the state average of 468 reviews.
If you're a Pueblo contractor with 354 reviews, you're not just competing with your neighbor — you're competing with the Denver metro firms that Google surfaces in "HVAC near me" searches. The review gap is also a visibility gap.
